Impressive build Tom  I only travelled by Hovercraft twice, to and from Calais on a school Geography field trip in 1974. The return journey was horrendous, as the weather in the Straits of Dover had turned rather nasty. Our SRN-4 was the last to leave Calais that day, all subsequent Flights/Sailings being cancelled minutes after we had left. The swell was getting up and the usual 35-40 minute journey took the best part of 2 hours, most of which was spent circling off Ramsgate waiting for a lull in the weather which would allow a landing. With all the pitching and rolling nearly all the passengers and some of the crew suffered from motion sickness. I held out until about 5 minutes before we landed, but the combination of a sudden gust of diesel fumes and my mate succumbing to the inevitable had me reaching for the sickbag. The cleanup crew would have had a massive task to get it ready for the next day
