Hi,

Never having used Klear, but having read on here, in Magazine articles and in various videos online, I thought "might be worth a try". The question however, is what is the current incarnation of the product called in the UK?

Uhmmmm, as far as I'm aware the current formulation available in the UK is not suitable for modelling purposes ?  Although I've heard some mutterings.

I've no first hand experience as like many others I stocked up on the old stuff when they changed the formulae. Hope I'm wrong.

What are you going to use it for?
This stuff is IMO the same just in smaller quantities at a higher price.  The makers will of course tell you it is different and specifically formulated for use on clear parts.

It will of course be available from a source closer to you.

I too have heard that the CUURENT version of the stuff is better than it used to be after they introduced the Euro version, but I've yet to test it myself.

I have a stock of the old stuff, just in case.

I to have a stock of the old stuff. About five bottles I think that I managed to snaffle from my local hardware shop before it disapeared from the shelves.
OGL got one as a 40th birthday pressie.

Whilst I appaud t   those who secured a stock of the original incarnation of Klear, for those of us who returned to the hobby after it's discovery in times past as an almost mystical solution to decal application or canopy preparation and would like to utilise it in our current modelling projects, I ask again, does anyone know what its [if any] CURRENT incarnation is? I.E. can a similar/identical product be purchased in the UK without paying stupidly inflated prices?

Pledge, Multi surface wax. Does the same as Klear, just milky looking, dries clear.
Astonish, wood floor polish, is also supposed to work.
I would assume, that any liquid floor wax would work, If they have been formulated to protect natural products like wood or stone.

Future, Kleer, Pledge, etc., in the form preferred by modellers, has "liquid styrene" in its formulation. Most modern incarnations of these & similar products do not.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

That's what I've heard as well. You just have to sit through the milky phase, which can prove difficult the first couple of times.

Thanks chaps - I'll ask SWMBO to purchase some on her next expedition to Sainsburys

A useful thread, my last stock is almost done.

I would just go to whatever store is closest that carries floor care products and look for any acrylic floor shine. If it looks clear/ a bit milky, buy that.
