Pondering a possible whif using - honest - the so old the instructions are in Latin Revell Cutlass.

IIRC it scales out at 1/60 (or similar), so would that make the jet effluxes about the same size as a 1/72 Javelin's (any mark but mainly m the Mk 7 onwards)?

Is that the early version with the straight nose or the later. drooped version? I can't even remember it!  :o

If the instructions are in Latin it's the later version.  The earlier one had them in Cuneform...

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Ye olde classic fit the box scale model at https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-00019-f7u-3-cutlass--102123, Kit.

Fujimi produced 2 kits but I think Revell only ever produced the one kit.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten that one.

I've got one of the Fujimi ones..........................somewhere..............  :-\

The Fujimi one is a beauty.  I've got one somewhere....

Fujimi did three versions of the basic kit. The F7U-3, the F7U-3M with lovely early Sparrow missiles, and the F7U-3P with the camera nose.
I have the first two of those in the stash.
The early version with the straight nose was by, if memory serves me well, by Linbderg/Aurora and was very close to 1/72 scale.

Didn't realise Fujimi did 3 kits, Jim.

The -3P is singularly ugly to my mind, but the others look terrific.

Did the Lindberg/Aurora one have an engine hidden behind a removable hatch, or did I imagine that?

The Linberg/Aurora one that I had did not have an engine hidden anywhere as far as I can remember, but the years can tell.
I never did get it built but sold it on in the end. I got it during my Aerobatic teams theme era.
I have seen one of them built, I think by TSRJoe and it had the correct position for the arrestor hook for the early version. ON TOP of the fuselage!
When in use it swung down between the jet pipes. !!!

That's similar to the Flapjacks hook, which did the same thing.  :o

There must have been something in the water at Vought around that time.............   :-\

Yup, like a lot (if not most) of Fujimi's output.

I must get around to building mine at some stage
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Lindbergh and Aurora Cutlasses are not the same kit:

Lindbergh F7U-1, 1/48th, first release 1952.

Aurora F7U-3, 1/70th, first release 1959.
