...Lützow...was, from what I've heard & read, renamed from Deutschland on orders from Hitler because of his fear of the negative impact on the morale of the German people if they read the headlines "Deutschland gesunken!"...

I've read that.  Possibly in Brickhills "Dambusters".

I have pondered the sensibleness of naming ships after one's royalty/leaders or one's nation for the very reason given by Corporal Schicklgruber.

And yet there is still the USS United States and the USS America...

But we've always named ships after royalty in the U.K. After all until the mid 1700's the reigning monarch was expected to lead his troops into battle and did up until George II. Naming them after your country though I'm not so sure about. Although again we have used cities and counties.

Looked it up as I was sure there was a HMS Britain, turned out to be HMS Briton.  So not a thing for us.  Ironically there have been two ships named USS England (although named after a person)!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

One of which, USS England DE-635; had a very successful 12 days hunting Japanese subs.  Drach's extended 5 minute guide (at almost 17 minutes) here

I suppose one day there might be a USS Donald Trump?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
