From the Good Smile Company that specialise in animie figures, are these multicoloured poseable models that can be built as is or painted as you wish.

Hiding amongst them though, is an ED-209, around 1/10 scale. Not cheap, but I want!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The Japanese, they do love their Mechanoids, don't they?   :banghead:

It's cultural heritage - and the high. persisting popularity comes from the animistic religious belief in spirits inhabiting things, not only nature. Dolls that children play with gain a spirit through the affection they gain, and seeing something "alive" in a robot (be it an SF item or a real one) is much easier for Japanese than anyone else, I guess.

These model have been featured frequently in the Hobby Japan magazine recently, with diorama builds. I like the AV-X0 from Patlabor, esp. because of the 1:60 scale which makes "compatible" with the older Bandai IP kits from the Nineties. The ED-209 is cool, too, but its (unspecified) scale is hard to assess. 1:12, maybe:o

They are all a bit pricey, though, the Ed-209 comes at more than USD 100.  :-\

Cheapest I've seen the ED-209 is at Plaza Japan, 7710 yen.  A bit more palatable at around 74 USD/63 Euros/£55.

It's a big model, at 20cm high it'll be comparable to a large 1/35 tank which is a similar price to what they're going for these days.
