Highly advanced German jet bombers have made it across the Atlantic and now threaten New York!

Space-age technology years ahead of the Allies allows the Luftwaffe to strike back! America's nose bloodied!

Hitler's new fighting jets open a terrifying new front in a truly global war! War Cabinet sent reeling!

If those sound like headlines from a pulp fiction novel, dime-store boy's annual or some kind of alternate history movie poster, then you're pretty much on the right track. However, it's also an accurate depiction of the box art on one of my favourite models of all time, the ultra-futuristic Arado E.555. This titan of Luft '46 subjects is still a kit I can't believe that a mainstream kit producer actually made, nevermind that it has seen multiple releases! The crazy part is that this 6-engined flying wing was a real project, this particular variant being the first in a family of "Amerika Bombers" developed by Arado.

For a look at this "not-quite-ripped-from-the-headlines" bomber, check out the link below!

Totally agree. I was "gobsmacked" when it came out and I still have one in the stash
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I bought bought 3 of them  as they are  so wiffable. Built one with a few modifications,  sold one and the remaining one  will be altered and  be a stop gap nuclear bomber until the V bombers came to fruition.  Looking forward to  seeing  this done

I have one too, but I'll be damned if I know what to do with it. It'll have to have a better power plant, that's for sure, but will the glass nose stay? Role? User?
So many questions, and so far so few answers.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Buried engines using Vulcan or Victor parts.  Longer wings (natch). Ball turret underneath or Tu4 style remote turrets with vision domes.  Tail gunner.  Underslung ALCM.  Soviet paint job.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Buried engines is a good idea. Maybe I should get a new Vulcan and retire my old one for parts, you say?

Longer wings. Yeah, but not long enough to change the sweep, methinks. So limited possibilities there. Might as well do something about my the ultra-German fins while in the area.

No turrets. Definitely no turrets. And I don't think she'll be Russian either. All metal isn't really fun at all.

I might be looking at a high altitude LOROP camera platform though, so two seater is good but not necessary.

Ah, there's other stuff higher up in the pile. But it's awesome sharing ideas. Thanks!

Much BIGGER engines?

A couple of 1/144 scale 777 turbo-fans would look impressive, but they might be a larger diameter than the fuselage....
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Did I mention that I have one of these in the stash with plans to convert it into a 1/48 jet fighter ca. 1950's/1960's? ;)

What about buried engines à la Northrops B2? That's what I have planned for mine!
