Not forgotten these (hell, they're so tiny they should have been done before the end of week 1!).

Both needed replacement home-made decals; well, it's taken another two goes to get these right, the problem being ink bleeding away from the decals as they transferred from the paper to the models.  Having thought I'd left them plenty of post-printing drying time it was clear that I'd not, so V3.0 prints were given a week to dry and then another after application of Liquid Decal Film.  They're successfully on now, and:

  • the Firefly has had fresh red undercoat applied, will topcoat when thoroughly dry; when that's done there will be general touching up of the rest of the bits; and,
  • the Dragonfly's lower rotor is applied, top one tomorrow and when properly set paint both; new landing skids are required as the originals were damaged, they'll need painting too, as will the 'camera lens'.

OK, calling the Dragonfly done.  Should have been completed a LONG time ago but home made decals were a faff.

I've an Epson inkjet printer and I changed from 'guzzle the ink with every print' ink to a longer lasting ink (both Epson products).  The latter took ages to dry to a point where Liquid Decal Film could be applied without considerable streaking.  Don't know whether it's the ink or the Liquid Decal Film that's the problem, will resort to a coat of Klear the next time to see what happens.

It's a tiny model (2.5 cm max) as can be seen.

And this one too.  Decal issues as per the Dragonfly, compounded by overly thick replacements at one stage (in scale terms they looked as though some quarter-inch ply had been nailed to the main body!).

Another teeny weeny one, no bigger than the Dragonfly.  When I turned it upside down I realised the sensor turret looked like a deep sea diver's helmet - or an armoured minion!
