Note that the Viggen nose will be somewhat wide, but that's easily fixed with some judicious sanding. 

Thanks for the confirmation/warning - I had expected that the Viggen nose would need to be shortened to fit in diameter. But it suits the Hunter very well. 

It just strikes me that this warning might or might not be valid for the. Revell version. I don't know how off the Airfix one is.

IIRC, isn't the Airfix one somewhat overscale and the Revell one about right, which would make the issue worse on the Revell?

IIRC the Airfix Hunter has a number of problems, not least:
- the wingtip shape
- the windscreen shape,
- the leading edge dogtooth
- the engine intakes too far forward (and I think not quite the right shape).

It's of it's time, and in some respects I'd rather play with one of the FGA9 boxings than either a FROG or a Matchbox FGA9.  But they too are of their time and way surpassed by the Revell kits.  But....still good whif potential if plastic is to be chopped about.

Excellent Super Hunters, btw - shows what can be done with an old kit.

The fuselage behind the wing was too short. in the 90's or 00's there were a series of conversion kits for the Hunter to make the different versions includeing details for the different engines, SAM p0romoted them for a while. These detail/correction sets included a plug for the fuselage, I still have one or more around somewhere

Fuselage too BEHIND the wings?!? I just extended it FORWARD of the wings!

Both lovely models - they're Hunters, so how could they not? -, but the recce one is just brilliant!  The nose just WORKS!
