It seems after my lengthy spell of "no mojo" it returned quite strongly.  Been mostly off work this week since I had "on call" days and wasn't needed so I enjoyed some bench time.  After finishing my USN Wyvern last Friday I jumped right in to two real world builds.

First a Tamiya 1/48 Mustang III.  I had a nice D-Day decal sheet that had markings for PRU Mustang.

Second, finished tonight is a HobbyBoss 1/48 Hawk T.1 in Red Arrows markings. I wanted more of an inflight display for this one so I used one of the shadow boxes I found last year at a discount store.  Wish I'd bought more of them now.  Quite like how it looks on the way.

Back to work tomorrow for a few but normal Whiffery should resume next week. .

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Apparently there were only three of them converted.  Quite the rare machine.

I don't understand the stripes on it, though.  Photo Recon, as I understand it, is mostly a high-altitude thing - hence the over-all blue.  Why would you ruin the effect with those stupid (I've never liked them) stripes?

The B&W stripes were applied specifically for D-Day, to ensure the notoriously trigger happy Naval and Army gunners didn't let fly at friendly aircraft. Many units still retained the stripes after D-Day though.

A good pair - I particularly like the finish of the Mustang.

From what I read doing very brief research the three Mustangs converted for PR were used for lower level tactical reconnaissance.
