From memory ICM figures have never been "great", they're more "servicable", & painting them can require more effort than it should because facial defining features & muscle definition is not their strong point.

So, you often need to work on creating that definition, either in the plastic before painting or through the use of more advanced painting techniques (I usually try to do the work in plastic, it's where my skill set is strongest).

An option, especially as ICM helmets rarely seem to fit the heads properly, but I don't think there are too many heads with Ukrainian helmets floating around on the aftermarket scene, yet.

Guy - the ICM figures were OK; I did start by undercutting pockets sleeves, etc. and they would have been straightforward builds but I just lost the mojo. The faces (despite the 70's porn 'stache on the Stugna bros) were OK as well (the eyes are distinctly molded, which was good). Overall, they're slightly better and closer to scale than many Masterbox figures. I have one of their Ukrainian SOF kits and those figures are slightly better than the ones in this kit (I built one as a replacement for the guarding soldier, but the uniform was out of place). I don't know if it's a difference in sculptor, molding or both.

Are they still all using their own? Or have they been given the ubiquitous 'Fritz'-style ones?
Or the kit ones could be used on the new heads.
There again, it's only a vague shape under the cam cover, anyway.

From the huge amount of footage I've seen of this conflict.. uniform standardization is not really a thing ...ive seen more than 2 dozen different camos being used from British DPM to US desert storm era cam and woodland ...French cam is kinda common in some areas .
I'm thinking it's the difference between the professional army and the cut lunch commandos and well anyone who wants to fight .
It's the same with the weapons I've seen used ..absolutely all over the place.

In that sort of scenario, and with that sort of supply line, I guess you take what you can get.
A slug thrower is still a slug thrower and will mess the opposition up, whatever time frame it's from.

And that doesn't factor in the foreigners who Use what they Brung...
