Probably a good idea to leave the missiles off: IIRC, the ones in the kit are somewhat... impressionistic...


The MiG-17's stretch was in the rear fuselage and only by about a metre, so it was probably a stability thing, to increase the moment arm of the tail surfaces. The main differences between the -15 and the -17 was the latter's all-new wing, which was thinner, stronger and more sophisticated than the -15's, and the fact that later -17s had an afterburner.
