Chile received 28 I-16 Type 10 in the spring of 1939.
These were in use until 1954. Over the years they have been constantly modernized.

The fighters were delivered without radio equipment.
In the 40 years, the machines were then equipped with radio.

At the end of the 40's the 2-blade propellers were replaced by 3-blade Curtiss propellers.
But Chile remained communist.  :mellow:  :wacko:

The I-16 was an advanced construction when it first appeared. Perhaps not quite cutting edge in 1950s - but surely South American good, with the upgrades   :wacko:
