Hawker Hunter F.A.W.1 56 Squadron Display Team "The Firebirds"

As is well documented, the Firebirds, formed in 1963, were the aerobatic display team for 56 Squadron flying the E.E. Lightning. However, prior to operating the Lightning, the Squadron flew various marks of the Hawker Hunter, including for a brief spell, the two seater supersonic Hunter FAW Mk.1, introduced in late 1959. The last remaining Hunter FAW Mk.1 was used by the display team as a support aircraft, and was painted in an identical scheme to the Lightnings.
