This really doesn't fit, 'cause it's not a what-if, but I just had to share my joy at having this pain in the rear done.  And to dispel the myth that what-iffers just fart around and never build kits.

This was supposed to be a nice break from building airplanes.  It turned into a sort of torture session.  Don't get me wrong, these tamiya armor kits are awesome.  The detail, the fit and the engineering are all superb.  But it all starts to go wrong when you start thinking you're clever, and you can shoehorn in that Verlinden interior set (that's intended for an entirely different kit).  Then you make the sudden realization that not many people are going to squint through the open hatches to see two or 3 tiny bits of interior, and you've spent those hours and hours of hacking up a perfectly good model for very little result.

I'm just not the brightest crayon in the box.

You're all probably asking, "Why the hell didn't he do a Latin American Panther for the group build?"  And that woudl be a good question, indeed.  The reason is that I just didn't think about it until it was a little late to shift gears.  But that's probably what I should've done.  Hindsight is always 20/20.

Anyhow, by some strange trick of luck and paint, it turned out better than it ever should have.

Looks good :D  Ive always had a soft spot (if u can have a soft spot for a tank) for the panther. Just what a tank should look like.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Sweet...and as the Baz sez, more piccies !

I can see what you mean about the interior detail........unless you're building an APC with the doors open, kinda useless, eh ? But if your little plastic dudes ever come to life, I'm sure they'll appreciate the extra effort !

Neat camo as well

But I can't agree with you, Martin....a tank should look like a Bulldog or Centurion, or my all-time fav, the big Chief !

True.

One solution: If you have taken good pics of your detailed interiors before they are all closed up (in armour or aircraft), small prints of the pics can be incorporated into your display of the finished model to show the viewer what is inside.
