I am currently reading John Hardinge's Alternative History Novel "The Australasian Kingdom" which gives a revised account of Australasia's involvement in WW2 - it has a rather nice picture of a Desert Scheme He-100 0n the cover, but also covers RAN Carrier operations in the Pacific with Carrier Versions of both the He-100 and He-112. So I plan to do a Carrier version of the He-112 together with a Desert Scheme He-100,

Now as far as I know, there was no RAN FAA in that period, so the question arises of the camo scheme which would have been worn by RAN aircraft if it had. I'm thinking that the standard RN FAA scheme would have been the most likely option - what do the panel think?

Post war RAN FAA scheme was AFAIK same as RN FAA so it makes sense that during WW2 it would have been the same.
However, lets leave sense out of this.  How about something similar to the RAAF white tail scheme but using a sea blue instead of foliage green on the topside?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Since Australia did not have any distinct markings in WWII I'd assume that an RAN aircraft of that era would just look like a RN/FAA aircraft of the local theatre of operations, using the same camouflage patterns and ID markings - but that does not prevent other soltions.  ;)

AFAIK there also have been some quite uniquely camouflaged RAAF Beaufighters and Beauforts, e.g. with upper surfaces in Foliage Green and Extra Dark Slate Grey (Yuk!), and the late NL-KNIL had in the PTO some flying boats in USN Dark Sea Blue and Extra Dark Sea Grey with Sky undersides, like this whiffy F6F:

Given that FAA aircraft were camouflaged primarily for operations over the dark waters of the Atlantic and North Sea it's logical that an Australian FAA would of gone their own way for operations over the Indian and Pacific Oceans, at least in my opinion  ;) So how about something using the blues that were used by some Malta based Beauforts and Spitfires ?

Here's my "Real World" 39 Squadron Beaufort camouflaged in RAF Light Mediterranean Blue and RAF Dark Mediterranean Blue.

I love the Beaufort  And plenty of food for thought in the other responses as well

Ummm? Tamiya?

They are all Tamiya acrylics but I can't remember exactly which at the moment.

It's ... Crikey! :o ... 0325hrs here, so I'll try to remember to look at my paints & figure out which ones I used later today, during more normal hours.
