Wakefield and district  have found a new venue for their show. And by the sounds of it its likely to be an interesting place.

It will be held on the 19th February 2023 at the Royal Armouries. Armoury Drive. Leeds. LS10 1LT

I have the paper work already and will get some space booked for the SIG. At the moment there doesnt appear to be a club/sig table booking fee  ;D

The Armouries is one place ive wanted to visit for a while now, so I'm looking forward to this one.

I always hope for the best.

I too have wanted to visit the Royal Armouries for several years. Leeds is a cracking city too with many good pubs. I will look at getting a hotel there for a night or two if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

That's what I'll be thinking of as well Nick. Chat about it at Telford ?

You'll be getting a reputation as the sensible one if you're not careful  ;)

I'll do some research on travelling etc so we can chat about it.

Been looking at getting to the Leeds show and it turns out I'll be "Oop North" around then as I have a family engagement party on the 18th Feb. Now whilst I can get from Newcastle to Leeds on the Sunday by train I need to wait to see if there's any strikes scheduled and also if the service is Trans-Pennine or Northern (both do a Newcastle - Leeds service), because I'm not trusting my Sunday to Northern  :banghead:

Should know in a couple of weeks time as the unions have to give 4 weeks notice.

I will be there. Really looking forward to this one.

I have bad news.

I have had a message relayed to me from one of the host club members saying that the show is now not going ahead. I am however waiting for it to be confirmed via the usual channels.

The main reason given in the message is that the exhibitor/traders parking would have to be located 2 miles from the venue. (I have no idea why)
Also recent personal issues for some of the key members of the organising team have, im told also had an effect. But it would be unfare to comment/speculate further on that.

I always hope for the best.

That's a shame, assuming it's confirmed, but at least I won't have to struggle with early morning trains from Newcastle.

Thanks Martin

Disappointed, but it seems reasonable.  No show is still better than going that s*****hole in Halifax, a place so bad that it made one fond the th old Huddersfield venue.
