I watched Robotech obsessively as a kid - series 1 at least. I've long wanted to build a Valkyrie and I managed to pick this up at a very decent price. It's a special anniversary decal scheme. Ultimately I'd like to build Roy Fokker's Varitech, which I may one day. I started this for a UAMF GB but it was a DNF  :frown:
GB thread: https://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=413&t=19456

The scheme on this was killer  Over a hundred decals! Plus there had to be paint matching of the blue.

Biggles modelling loony.

That's nice! We've seen Valkyries in a multitude of different camouflage schemes over the year here, so cool to see a "standard" one!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Ah, the 5.000th production anniversary livery! Nicely done.  For reference:

"This VF-1A (Bu.No.2114130/5000) was the 5000th VF-1 Valkyrie built. This paint job was applied (in May 2013) for the roll-out ceremony at Northrop's facility at Moon Base Apollo. Sadly, this paint scheme was covered over when it was delivered to the UN Spacy. Production of the original VF-1 Valkyrie ended later that year with a total of 5,459 having been built from 2006 to 2013. These were unprecedented numbers and to this date have only been surpassed by the VAF-6 Alpha."

BTW: Is the gold trim part of the decal sheet? Looks very shiny for a decal?

Thanks for that info! Where did you find it?

Yes, the trim is a decal. It was highly reflective, almost like gold leaf.

There's a website with scanned profiles from two official Japanese source books, with translated texts: http://mechajournal.com/2016/03/vf-1-valkyrie-color-plate-gallery/

BTW, could it be that the picture/profile drawing I linked from the site is not displayed properly?  :o I removed the HTML code, so that the direct link is now accessible.

Ah, I have been trying to get my hands on a 1:72 Macross Draken (at a reasonable price) for years - with the plan to build it in full "Fields & Meadows" cammo and with Swedish roundels.

It will happen, some day!

Great build,  reminds me of a single seater F-14 stealth Tom Cat.

The VF-1's design is from the F-14's era (early Eighties) - a direct relative, even though the Valkyrie is overall smaller.
