Games Workshop paint name changes

Yes, they do mate, look good after a couple of coats.  The standard paints in the Model Air range tend to take three or four.

Metalcote are some of my favourites, a little bit fickle but look good buffed up.

Way up here, on The Backside of Beyond, the only paints I can buy locally are Tamiya at Nerdvana and Citadel at Tactical Magic.
Otherwise, I have to order it online or drive south 430 km./4.5 hours.
The name change was a bit of kick in the cobblers, but I've adapted.

My second  fav LHS now sells the full range of Citadel products and also Warhammer and Warhammer  40k .
 They are quite sort after here and for a long time hard to get so as you can imagine the shelves emptied pretty smartly ..I'll be going there next week as it's also my supplier of Ammo paints and I need more gloss varnish.

IIRC the name changes came about because GW changed suppliers and the new colours didn't quite match the old ones (and in some cases were quite different).

I think what caused a lot of confusion outside of wargaming circles was they went from generic fantasy name for their paints to ones that were very in-universe and only made sense if you played Warhammer/40K and possibly not even then.

When my nephews were building their vast warhammer armies I did point out that they didn't have to only use games workshop products and could in fact save money by not doing so.
I might as well have not bothered for all the good it did.

Mossie,  theyve changed names 2 or 3 time now  must be 3 or more actually, the initial change from the generic names to the more GW names was due to a supplier change,  the original line is under the Cote du arms range of paints now  my main space marine army is bodys of Tamiya flat yellow and shoulder pads of GW worm purple,  for years i was praying my pot wouldn't run dry before my army was up to strength,  when i saw the cote du arms ones i got 4 pots      The latest set of name changes have occurred ( i think) as they've changed the painting style they want to push, to a more layer based system,  as i no longer get white dwarf, im not fully up  on whats the current trend..
