Having watched a video about upgrading the Hornby Junior Express battery powered train set to a remotely controlled and track improvements. I thought that I would be able to do something similar.
I bought the Paddington Express which is made in Vietnam and a separate set made in China the aim was to have both power cars with the lamps on, whilst it was running around the plastic track, it can run on 00 gauge Peco or Hornby track but the couplings aren't compatible with the regular rolling stock and nor are the two different battery powered train sets unless you do some bodging.

So I have removed the motor from the blue Paddington set and used the bodyshell of the Express dummy power car, the couplings have been manipulated to fit making a two coach set, the dummy pantographs have also been removed creating a DMU.
At the present time it still looks a bit toyish so I bought the Northern Belle adhesive printed coach set from eBay and applied it to the red Express coach. I messed up at first but luckily there's enough to cover the whole carriage but not all at once. A little bit of cut and shunt is needed.
Either a longer steel ruler or sharp blade with a steady hand something I don't have at the moment. It's okay and covers nearly all of the coach. This means that I'll need another set for the power cars.
