By a factor of at least 2.5!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

 ;D  ;D

I must admit I hadn't looked into the type at all, but my assumption was that is was a late 20/30's design. Thanks for putting me right Nick

I may still build it as a 30's aircraft serving in Manchuria or Korea.

I'm sure we could think of other things for it to tow, like a steampunk flying saucer or an Ian McQue-style anti-gravity work boat:

Exceptionally well detailed for such a tiny kit!

Could be a mobile airship/anti-grav ship docking station, rather than a tug.

The linked article says they were red, in a later note added in 2019.

Ah, I see that now. Black would look cool - 1930s Phillips but orange text on black rather than the usual black
text on orange. BP, Sinclair with the dinosaur etc.

Lots of options.  ;D ;)

Interestingly they also do the Doodlebug in 1/120th(TT) scale in their Hauler line:
