The pit, stolen 100%, with modifications, from the Airfix F-80. Simple tape belts, ejector handle from wire.

Side intakes are on, gradually blending in with Mr Surfacer. Wing roots cut back to fit around them. Wheel wells have been deepened.

As Shep Paine termed it, "Creative Gizmology."

Or in the words of Burt Gummer: "Doin' what I can, with what I got."

Looking good.

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Sometimes I'll have a Tremors movie marathon but I always start with the first ..Tremors Bloodlines...it's good to see Rejection turn to Perfection 😄

Wings on, puttying and sanding done, final blending being done with Mr. Surfacer 500

Modifications to vertical stabiliser. Thin card sandwiched between the two pieces, putty on leading edge, which will be gradually extended down and possibly up.

Well, I hadn't planned on this particular disaster.  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Glued the fuselage together, went to bed, discovered the next day that the the cockpit area had somehow shifted a bit. The rear of the bang seat is now way too high to allow the canopy, purloined from an old F-86, to fit on top.  :-\  I'll give all the seams a good brush of enamel thinners and pry them apart. I hope that technique works with Tamiya Extra Thin.

Dave you should be OK with the Tamiya extra thin..it's so thin that it don't eat alot of plastic so gentle cutting will get I apart..talking from first hand booboos here 😉

Sheet Styrene like Evergreen tho..that glue freaking loves that stuff ..it's like it was Ark welded together.

Working on the nose contours, lots of PSR. Predictably my cockpit fix got messed up, this time the seat settled too far to starboard, but I'm not prying this open again. I'll just have to make the canopy fit somehow. Building up the edges, this could lead to a lot of foul language.
