You might have missed my point.  ;)
My offer was to tag along to the reasons I gave for basing interceptors on Greenland and the Faroes. not necessarily that F-102's would do ASuW job.

I was making a leap of imagination. Too much caffeine.

No offence taken.  ;)

There's a picture somewhere of an F-102 or F-106 loaded with bombs as a joke in South Korea I believe. Might be in the Squadron Signal book of the F-106 the more I think about. Some big wig was visiting the base so they loaded up some bomb racks in place of the wing tanks to see how long it would take to notice it.

It was Lt. Gen. Arthur Agan, and that is where I got the idea. The link to my build is HERE

Well the Deuce was used in limited air-to-ground role in Vietnam (though trying to use the Falcon's heat-seeker against hot-running truck engines in nighttime must have been "interesting") and even as fast FAC's (since the rocket tubes in the weapon bay doors could be loaded with WP rockets just as easily as HE, and TF-102 had a second seat for the observer).

So anti-shipping strike is much less of a stretch than one would initially assume...

Sounds like a back story to me!

Hmmm! Interesting idea this. I have a Revell 1/32 F-16XL that I've been saving for a "what if". I used the tail fin for another project so, it'll probably end up as a twin tailed effort!! My original thought was for a Spectrum Archangel - successor to the Angel Interceptor but, I like the idea of an anti shipping version. Maybe a carrier borne version would work? ;D  ;)

I have a pair of 1/48 XLs in my stash awaiting ideas.  I may have to do the two seater as an RAF (or possibly RN) anti-shipping aircraft....

Go for it! German marine colors?
