Triumph Broadsword with photos

This was originally two 1/24 Triumph TR7 kits bought on eBay many years ago. The white one was almost complete whilst the other was a snap-tite kit. I then proceeded to build my version of the Triumph Lynx. It would appear that the white TR7 got broken beyond repair and for some reason I have glued the bonnet/hood onto the red model. The tail light cluster is also from the white model.
I changed the name to Broadsword as this no longer resembles the Lynx. The pop-up headlights are now fixed in the closed position welded shut,  the new headlights are from a Dinky Ford Capri Mk1 Police car.
The Broadsword is a three door hatchback with the Rover V8 engine and five speed manual gearbox. Originally aimed at the American Sports car market but never made it into production. Intensive trials in Australia resulted in a new suspension system being fitted, the installation of air conditioning and  larger brake discs.
It's used as a pool car for employees of SJMcColm Engineering Ltd. There are intentions of fully restoring the car to showroom condition but employees of a certain age keep signing the car out as there's not many Triumph TR7/TR8's on British roads these days. Rumours are rife that the engine was fettled by Tickford engineers and even the Lotus team.

Always had a soft spot for the TR-7/8.  Loved the TR-7 when it first hit the streets in 75, and it was my first car when I turned 16 in the States.  Loved that thing, but it taught me a lot about how cars work (or don't, as the case may be).  I keep my eye open for a TR-8 restoration project but they are few and far between and the ones that come up are either outrageously priced or beyond saving.

I'm happy with this layout for the front bumper/fender and headlight arrangement.

A new set of alloys and tyres, a chassis that almost fits.



With all those grills on the bonnet/hood there must have been an over heating problem with the chosen engine!
