It's not just GW now Chris.
Ammo,,Vallejo and Army Painter paints are doing this to.
It's gone nuts mate..utterly.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Yeah there's a lot of:
contrast paints
Speed paints (no idea how these work, do they make you paint faster?)
Shade, layer, technical etc etc

Bonkers!

Must say the tutorial videos GW do are really good, especially if you're a youngster getting started
Or an old timer getting back into it like me

Used to love painting 40k back in the day, imperial guard and Eldar mainly (have never been great with rules so didn't play much)
My nephew has got into Warhammer recently so it has drawn me back in.

Thinking of painting a Space Nun army (or whatever they are called)
Lol 😆 love it mate...im thinking you mean Sisters of battle.. .nun type arse whoppers.
The rules got me as well..to much reading to be enjoyable  in the end.
I had a 20 thousand point army of Blood Angels and Imperial Fists ..armour ..the whole gambit and when the army sat there for 5 yrs I knew it was byebye time.
So I'll dick about with these figures just to try and improve my painting skills.

Space nuns with space guns!

20000pts That would have been a massive army!

Sadly all the stuff I had is long gone
had a skeleton warhammer fantasy battle army ( my first whiff, skeleton centaurs)
The original blood bowl
Dark future
A halfling blood bowl team for the second edition BB
Still got Fury of Dracula, a board game where 3 famous vampire hunters chase Dracula round Europe
Dracula's movement is hidden, the hunters have to locate him following clues and avoiding traps

The miniatures now are amazing in detail, way better than before, just a shame about the price

The paint side of things is way above my head..im 3/4 colour blind so that screws me right from the get go....but I'm tryin.
When I wanted to try the ol hand at painting again I knew the prices were gonna be stupid and yip..I knew right so I went hunting on a auction site here called trademe...found a heap of 40K at bloody good  prices so I indulged  ;D
Since I like the monsters I scored a Tyranid Prime and the Carnifex and also a very nice pile of bits and pieces..dark alder..nurgle and alder make up most the bits...some tau in there too.
The parts have proved to be most useful 👌

As for my armies..yeah it was huge ..pretty much any battle I played I had all bases covered which is what I wanted ...yep I won alot more than I lost but mate it just got out of control...im not even gonna try to figure out what I spent on this lot...so now it's just the odd figure here and there .
I'd like at some point get a couple of the big creations these nuttas have come up with..like chaos defiler or a daemon prince.

Back when I was figure painting it was either Humbrol Enamels or artists oils and that was your lot. So much simpler back in the Dark Ages  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
