Reminds me that I have an Argentinian "counter project" from the same era somewhere in The Stash...

Ooooh very interesting! What's the base kit?  :o

Well, it's not an AEW project - my response might have been misleading. But I had a Falkland crisis project with Argentinian markings on my agenda for long. I had hoped for a respective anniversary GB last year to finally tackle it, but some more months or years in the loop won't hurt. A light attack aircraft, though.  ;D

No no, you made perfect sense. Funnily enough, I built this model plus a British AH-1K last year for the anniversary but I'm just getting round to posting them now.
Light attack is interesting. My first thought is an Argentinean Bronco?   My second thought would be a modified Feisler Storch
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

Argentinian Bronco is a nice idea, but it will be a jet., some day, inspired by a drawn profile I came across long ago.

Nice

I was thinking of either of your first two suggestions. Maybe Ark Royal didn't get scrapped at all or maybe Hermes had a collapsible deck? Whatever is most plausible?

Actually they found 4 flight worthy Gannet AEW3 in 1982 and had the dockyard working on HMS Bulwark which had decommissioned the previous year, The Gannets would have likely had to use RATOG gear for take offs with no steam catapult and would have to dury rig airfield arrestor gear to enable Gannet operations.

As it happens the work involved in bringing her back into service was too great, and efforst were redirected at getting the Tribals and Rothseay Class frigates in the reserve fleet back into service. Plus the crews were needed to bring Illustrious into service as she was handed over in June.

The RWR is unlikely, simply due to no time to fit and test in the short time available to get them operational agaian, but tanks are more likely.

But in WhiffWorld anything is possible..........................  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
