Boeing B-29 Flying Wing

The Superbomber was proposed by USARMY back in 1940. Boeing proposed three examples of the B-29 incorporating a Flying Wing in the hope that the internal fuel would have the endurance of flying from the USA to Europe and back again. Although the XB-29 hadn't made it's maiden flight until September 1942.
The first of these designs was the Boeing Model 360.


The second the Boeing Model 361


The third the Boeing Model 362,which was a combination of Models 360 and 361. The wingspan would have been 300ft.



I first thought of using the 1/72 Airfix or Academy B-29 bomber with the wings of the Northrop YB-35/YB-49 but the prices of the Northrop in plastic kits are expensive. So the alternative could be the vacform Exeform if I can find it or the Nova which seems to be a cheaper option. As I have never built a large vacform kit and have read the kit reviews I will leave this to the experts.
However having used the old Airfix Avro Vulcan B.2 on several of my builds, I think that this kit will fit the B-29.

See, even Boeing believed in my Rule No. 1!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

At least you can use the kits outer wing parts. Not sure about the Vulcan. Looks like you would have to take a wedge out of the middle to change the sweep angle. But sometimes you have to work with what you can get your hands on.

It's down to cost, as I'm no longer working due to my medical condition I get a monthly allowance from the Department for Works and Pensions so I have to budget. When I was working in the security industry and had a steady wage yes I did accumulate a large stash of model kits unfortunately I had to sell them when times were bad.
Occasionally I will stumble upon a kit or a started build at a bargain price or find a media that I'm not familiar with on a larger scale then read the online reviews.
