I don't think I posted this before.

I had a box of armor models from my youth (waaaay back in the 70s and 80s).  They were in varying condition, some more complete than others.
As I was fiddling I discovered the turret for a Crusader fit into the hole atop an M3 Lee/Grant (don't recall which it was).
I've repainted it in a sort-of European scheme, basically using paints I had on hand, then dug out some tools and added them for a little color variation.

The concept I came up with is giving the Grant/Lee a proper anti-tank gun so they can sit hull down, with the 75mm serving as an artillery piece.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I'm sure my Uncle Ian could have used a turret like that on his M3 Lee at Imphal.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I have no idea of how well it would work in reality... but it is a strange beast!

I like that    and could see some workshop in Alexandria coming up with something similar
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That's cool 😎 👍 😀
Engineering wise it's possible..the Crusader turret isn't all that heavy as it's quite possible the cast Grant turret weighted about the same when you take the different gun weights into account.
The 6pdr (57mm) gun is a heavy beast compared to the 37mm in the Grant.
The only issue I can think of is the turrets race bring of a larger diameter than the Grant's..but that's nothing a gas axe and some good ol battle field engineering can't sort out  ;D
I know it would be possible because of other modifications done to machines in the field..just look at the field mods done to the B-25 Mitchell's which included moving thr gun turret on at least one I've seen 😉 😀
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I'd assume that the original turret ring would prevent anything bigger than an M3 Stuart turret, I'd guess. But up-gunning the M3 is plausible, even though bigger (anti-tank) guns were hardly available at its time.

No Dizz, you'd just cut and paste weld in a Crusader turret ring.  Simples.   ;)

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
