.............there's like a feathered/blurred edge between the dark sea blue color and the intermediate blue color. Same between the intermediate blue and the white.
I don't own an airbrush and can't use one for various reasons that would help create that feathered edge between colors.
So what other options are there to create that feathered/blurred edge?

Earlier on Page 2 of this thread, I had mentioned the above quoted post.
I've recently begun to think about the following:
The V-22 I have is 1/72 scale. If it were 1/48, 1/32, or larger, the feathered edges between colors would be needed and noticeable.
But as a model aircraft gets smaller (1/72, 1/144, etc.), I have to wonder if the feathered edges are really necessary? Would they still be noticeable? Probably if you're using a magnifying glass to look at the model, but not so much if you're standing far away.
So I've been giving thought to if I should still add them on a 1/72 scale aircraft?

I've seen RW aircraft where the feathered edge was hard to see at much of a distance. I say don't worry about it. Just give it your best you can and I'm sure it will be fine.

Not being sarcastic or anything but, why even bother? Why not just opt for a hard edge instead. Much simpler   <. In any case, would a "feathered" edge really be all that prominent in a small scale? Certainly, it would look very smart whichever option you choose.

I've seen a Japanese version. Picture below. It's nice, but my heart is really set on doing an American version instead with a retro WW2 PBJ-1H/J blue Navy or Marine Corps scheme.
