Hi all,

so having not long returned to the hobby, it seems I've sort of missed the boat on various limited-run 1/72 models from Whirlybirds, S&M, Maintrack, Freightdog etc etc. The various models I'm looking for are just nowhere on the internet currently. So, if anyone happens to have any of the following, and are willing to part with them for reasonable cash I'd be eternally grateful:

Full Kits:
- Hawker P.1154
- Hawker P.1121
- Avro 720
- BAe P.1214 and BAe P.1216
- Avro Arrow CF-105

Aftermarket:
- Odds & ordnance overwing JL-100s for Lightning
- [same but underwing rocket pods and pylons
- 1/72 Genie missiles

- TSR2 tail fin with air scoop

Thanks in advance!

I can help you with the 1/72 genies.. how many do you need?
Oh I presume your in the UK?

The ex-Maintrack/Whirlybird stuff will probably get repopped within the next year, as Martin Blundell has the moulds and does intend to rerelease them. I'd like the Supermarine 511 at some point.

Don't know if Fantastic Plastic have any BAe P.1214s available, but they are very pricey.  Freightdog - try a friendly email as Colin is very obliging where possible.

Odds and Ordnance is handled by Models for Sale now, rather than the arsepiece that is Alleycat. At least with Vince you're likely to get your orders relatively quickly.

As for the Arrow.... I think you've more chance of seeing Sunderland AFC win the Premier League.  There is one currently on eBay - I know not which tooling - and the start price is a cool 30 notes.

I have one vacuform. I don't recall the manufacturer right now.

Astra or Victoria Wings.  Was a Canadian company, long since defunct.

Yes I'd spoken with Martin about what he had coming out soon, he mentioned they'd only bought the Whirlybird tools since the asking price for the Maintrack stuff was too high.

I also spoke with them, and they confirmed they categorically had none in stock, and that the Google search that leads to a page claiming they are in stock is a cached page and long out of date.

I will drop Freightdog a line and see if he has any random stock squirreled away.

I'd also contacted MfS and they were awaiting stock, will have to keep checking the site I guess.

A Vacform of which kit?

The late Robert (kitnut617 IIRC) ended up with the moulds for that CF-105 vacform, and he sent me two of the 'prints' from them. Even then they were in superb condition and the 'prints' are faultless.

Is it possible to re-create some moulds from the existing 'prints'?

Yes.  Either resin or plaster of Paris to do female moulds for vacform or rubber for resin casts. The latter given the size is expensive (been there, done that), I've yet to try the former method - I did think about it for a few things but never got round to it.

Given the size and shape for Arrow, I'd stick with vacform for the wings, as resin can distort easily. Mould rubber can too, depends on how it's stored. I've had a few moulds do that.

Any ideas what is/has happening/ed with the S&M tooling? Is anyone taking up the torch since Mel sadly passed on? He had a great selection available, would be a shame if they were no more
