I happen to be into 3D modeling and 3D printing in a big way, and as an engineer I enjoy making designs of things that might actually work.  So I've decided to try my hand at some 3D-printed modern land vehicle models.  I've been working primarily in blender 3.6, and so far I have developed a hull, track set, and turret model.  My idea is to use a common chassis, similar to how some modern IFVs share their hull with main battle tanks (T-14/15, Merkava/Namer).  I can then design various turrets and addons to make different vehicles (IFV, SPAA, tanks, etc).  I have taken design cues from the Merkava and the Puma IFV, with turret inspiration from the M3 Bradley.  I may end up sizing the turret down since modern combat vehicles are starting to concentrate their crew in the hull for ease of protection.  Here's a screenshot of my WIP infantry fighting vehicle model.  It has a 37mm autocannon so far, I plan on adding ATGM tubes to the turret somewhere.  More to come.

This is a bloody good idea mate..commonality has a heap of benefits..like the CV90 platforms...also makes your design work much easier to do when your hull is basically all ready done 😉

I already have a list of vehicles I could use this for.

- MBT
- IFV
- SPAA
- Light Tank
- ATGM Carrier
- APC

When the model is finished I can post the STL files for anyone who wants to make these themselves.  The turrets will be fully articulated so they can rotate.

I like the turret design with the sloped front.
How about an Engineer, Command Post and Recovery vehicles? Armored ammo resupply for the MBTs?

Sure doesn't feel like it lol, took forever to get back to this.  I'm thinking I may re-work my hull slightly and scale things up to make assembly easier.  Might even do a couple in a scale to go with toy soldier figurines, we shall see.
