What if my WHATIF isn't "what-iffy" enough? Shouldn't the group dogpile me for being a closet anti-iffite? I know other sites might dogpile a modeler for using the wrong shade of black on a landing gear wheel's valve stem cap or slam a guy's build because the canopy was too thin or something like that - I just figured, since so many modelers can be so goofy, there needed to be something wrong with this group.

Just kidding! ;)

That's what is nice about this place. There those who take the whifs seriously. Nothing wrong with that at all It might be alternative historys or profiles. Then there's people like me who just make stuff up with no basis in reality. We are a supportive bunch who might offer advice, but no one will slam your work because you choose to build a TSR-2 in VF-2 colors . Panzerwulf came here with a Corsair in Japanese markings, and IIRC ( someone correct me if I'm wrong), was not prepared, so to speak, for the positive reception he got from it. Evidently there had been less than positive remarks about it on other forums. I'm looking forward to see you let your creativity run free. That's the fun part. I've heard that one can never have enough Mustangs, especially if you think it would look good in
Republic of Alaska colors.

*points to sig*  From almost true to completely crazy.

As for RW...as long as the forums don't get flooded with them, or they're in the right context.  eg Matrixone and his threads with stunning demonstrations of dioramas and photography, or the airbrush thread with people showing examples of what they've done and how.  When I finish a RW build I tend to post a single photo with a short review in the Model Kit News forum, in the relevant manufacturers thread.

I personally enjoy the RW subjects that are so unusual, they practically are Whiffs, anyhow (even though they actually existed in the real world).
The quirky, the impractical or downright odd...seem to fit right in with delta-winged Mustangs and biplanes made from bread-ties.

I just wouldn't want to see 1000 everyday subjects that you can find on any other, common modelling site.  That's why those sites are over there and this one is over here, IMHO.

This is not a request.  It is a basic expectation that this community expects of each of you.  This is a modeling site.  That means people build models of RAF stuff, USAF stuff, Russian stuff, Nazi stuff.  It's not a celebration of communism, the monarchy, a democracy or facism.  They're just models of a topic that interests the builder.  Get that concept right before you post anything else on this forum.  Respect others in the forum.

Every couple of months we have to pull one or two of you aside to remind you of this and we are getting tired of this. You will be nice or you can go somewhere else.

That goes for the what if? S.I.G. as well, before anyone asks.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Ah yes, the "Knock it off or I'm turning this website around!" warning.

Makes me wonder if I should do  a model of the What-If Site as a 17th century Man-Of-War firing a couple shots across the bow of a recalcitrant poster....
