...Academic papers have been written,  psychologists and costume historians have argued virulently about the  pink/blue gender reversal.  It's a very fraught area of contemporary gender politics into which I prefer NOT to enter. 

Sod the contemporary whatever! I wasn't aware, and have learnt something I didn't know. Such days are good days! 

Agreed!  

And nothing wrong with the blue 'eyeshadow', it adds a point of difference.

I have a pink Ragtop Cadillac diecast, which will stay in that scheme.
