I finally cast a dome for the top of the rotor from UV resin. It took four tries to get one round enough that could be sanded a little to complete it. I painted it good old Testor's gloss red but I didn't wait long enough to dry and put a big ol' thumb print on it while glueing it on. So out came the red paint for another coat which straightened it out. Pics to follow.

I thought it deserved a completely completed pic so here goes.

It's fun working with this UV resin. I can make a simple part so easily. One of my better model building tools.

I agree - I've only just started using it, and I can see a wealth of possibilities.

And it plays well with CA glue. Silicon molds are easy enough as long as the part is not real deep. You just have to make sure the UV light gets all the way to the bottom of the mold. I've used it outdoors on a sunny day and just set it on a patio table or chair and give it a quarter turn every few minutes.

It really does suit that shade of green   and the red just sets it all off
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Or make the part hollow... thinking of figures here.
All useful information.

Beautiful helicopter, the parts mix worked very well.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

You can always make your version. When I looked at that bug eyed canopy I just had to whiff it.

I fondled with that bug eyed canopy may times, but didn't come up with this concept. Just magnificent. Will keep in mind to do my own version. Thanks, David
