A good question Graham, think its still to be decided.

Any chance of doing production cockpits?

QuoteWhite Ensign Models are doing a limited run 'Anti-Flash White' in their colorcoat enamel paint range. unfortunately they are limiting it to 150 tins and will only produce the stuff if they get pre-orders for 100. However those who have used the paints will conform that these are pretty accurate colours matched to the real thing.

And what differentiates anti-flash white from plain old bog standard matt white?

So it's gloss white. Humbrol #22 would do, except it's got lousy coverage.

IIRC Antiflash white is gloss overcoated with matt

I thought it was fairly clear. In the event of a nuclear detonation, your White Ensign-coated model will survive, but your Humbrol-coated model will melt.

In the circumstances I don't think I'd be making a complaint to Humbrol after such an occurrence, so the WE paint could possibly be a waste of time...?

I'd just be happy getting my hands on the kit itself.
Have not seen a single one over here.  Kinda doubt we ever will, either.

So, wit aside, is the WEM anti-flash white a different hint of white or not?

My experience tells me that WEM paints are spot on, colour-wise. They might be a little on the thin side, requiring several coats for good coverage, but they are stick-brushable and don't take a fortnight to cure, (like, for example, the Xtracolour Red Arrows Red).

Is it almond white, (with a hint of brown), rose white, (with a hint of red), barley white, (with a hint of...er...barley)...etc.?
I'm only going to be doing one as a museum example, so I'm confident enough to mix some paint up.

On the subject of available paints, any suggestions on replicating the gold-tint of the canopies? The Airfix suggestion of Clear Orange doesn't cut it for me. I'm currently experimenting with gold paint and Klear.

Going from photos, anti-flash white seems to me to have a hint of a creamy tinge to it.  However that may be just the effects of weathering, or cheap kodak film!  :P
