Anyone else here ever do this?

Bought a cheepo Matchbox Lesney Jeep on ebay (I had one of these little diecast beasties as a kid, too!).

In about 20 minutes, it became a military Jeep, close enough to 1:72 scale for me to use in the background of a 1:72 diorama.

I like to use the cararama stuff as well, the landrovers are good.

I've yet to actually do anything besides put it together, but I found this really nice 1/32 Honda ATV a couple years ago at WalMart. I think it's Ertl or something. I bought it because it was close enough, I thought, to 1/35. It looks good on the shelf next to a couple of armored vehicles.

damn good idea...I have been searching all over for a volvo or a subaru for my swedish diorama...I will check ebay!
