Courtisy of Tovarich Antoly over a Productive Comrad OKB, I've now finished the Mother lands greatist achievement, the MiG-26!

This bird sports the unique markings of the Socialist republic of Ceylon around 1977-ish or so (White 23 was part of a batch aquired from Poland, who was trading up for MiG-28s and -29s), she's loaded out in standard ADF config. with 2 Atoll IR missiles on the wingtips and a pair of Advance Atoll radar guided missiles under the wings.

I used the crappy Hasegawa/minicraft F-5A, as both of my Italeri kits are bashed to make the combat capable 2-seater.

Currently I'm giving thought to the Alt. History of Ceylon, from the Communist coming to power after the islad gained its independiance from UK to the overthrow of the commies somewhere around 89-92 ish. I would like to throw in some units being used by India in the '71 Indo-Pakistani war and an rebellion by the Tamils.

Cool, Shas!  Those decals came out looking pretty good on a lightly painted plane.  Glad I could help!

And the UB model, seen here sportin jungle camo and a warload during the Tamil uprising of '74-ish

you can barely make out the tail flag and the stars, I found out that the decals are a bit on the translucent side    oh well, she lacks Bort numbers due to the new camo applied over the standard 2-tone finish.

Hardest part about this project was the 2-seat cockpit & canopy, I used 2 Italeri F-5As for this, and ended up screwin up one of the transparencies. Since I wasnt sure if Testors would send me a replacement set for a F-5F, I nabbed a spare F-20 top and worked on it till it fitted, then carefully cut the other F-5 canopy to match. a little PSR later...

Underside shot. War load is a six-pack of 500lb bombs on the centerline, 2 60mm rocket pods, 2 napalms and a pair of Atolls. Handling when loaded-out for max use, along with high gas milage, was very difficult. When the uprising was finally put down 6 months later, all but 4 of the original UBs needed to be scrapped due to severe fatigue.

You've got another winner there, Shas! You're very talented at those camo paintjobs!

I told ya, but would ya listen to me?  NOOOooooo

I found that if you apply them over light colors, they're ok, else you need to paint roughly the same shape in white, then apply the decal.

Still, they look kinda neat, in a low-vis sorta way
