I was hoping that stupid camera would be here by now, but I'm getting antsy to start building so I'll document what I can with the aid of my scanner.

New work, mostly in the landing deck area.  The plastic on top of the ATB is THICK.  I originally considered scoring it out with a knife, but a cursory examination revealed that I'd be 80 before I got through.  So...OUT CAME THE DREMEL!!!

Even at roughly 6000 rpms, I was barely cutting through the plastic.  However, I got some decent cuts overall, and I'm pleased with where we are now.  The next step is to fit a flight deck and then fare it into the body with Tamiya 2 part Modelling Putty (Product of the gods!  Makes green stuff look icky by comparison).

So here's the pic, more to come I hope, and soon maybe even with a camera!

LOL...looks like a standard US Gov issue pic to me !!!
sounds like it is going to be really cool...

This scanner-imaging could have some really cool "special effects" capabilities I never thought of before...

Maybe replicating some of those famous Cold War "we think this is a MiG-25" kind of snapshot looks.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

I hadn't thought about it, but yeah, looking at the first pic, I can definitely see it.

I had a bad bit of insomnia last night, so I whipped up the Bridge.  I started considering chairs, remembered how small they'd be in 1/700, and stuck to big structures and flat panel displays.  ;)  Parts that will probably disappear from view once this is installed include the doors at the back cut from .010 styrene, The submarine hull parts on the left side (Which are mostly invisible in a top shot unfortunately) and the flat panels theiough you might be able to make them out, 2 on the left side, one on the right.

The Bridge is a multi-tiered construct, covering like 5 seperate levels.  This neccessitated one change in plans, that being a new canopy since the old one is thick as all heck and you can't see a darn thing through it.  Once my Squadron Shop order arrives, I'll make a new thin one.

Keep up the good work...can't wait to see this baby all done !

It is pretty hard to see what's really going on, tho...the second pic is much clearer, but I don't know what I'm looking at ?

You guys remember the similar pics that Shasper ( back when he was a wee Ves ! ) took of his 'Migs' ?

Heh, it'll probably make more sense when seen head on and painted.  ;)  The curly bit is some form of control stations, as is the shorter one in front of it near the nose (I'm pretty sure it's where the pilots of this monstrosity sit).  I have no idea what the biggish box is, but it's probably some super-computer thingie.  Pretty much everything else is a walkway or flat screen display.

If my "free" camera doesn't show up soon, I'm going to bite the bullet and buy one as this scanner stuff is driving me kinda nuts.
