This is my second 1/72 armor model (my first was my Mars tank to go with my ongoing Martian colonial project).  That one was a very nice Revell Bradley that gained an interior and a new turret.  This one is a real-world project (my first this year...actually in several years, since I hadnt built anything for some time before you lot got me inspired again).  The Hasegawa kit isnt to the same standard as the Revell, but I'm still pretty happy with the result.

My grandfather was a Despatch Rider with the Desert Rats in WWII, so when I saw this Hase M3 Grant Mk 1 with Desert Rat artwork on the box I thought I'd give it a shot.  My sole reference was an old "Desert Rats at War" book with a couple of B&W pics of Grants in the desert.

My knowledge of armor is very, very limited, so I'm sure there are inaccuracies in the build, color, etc, but to me it is an accurate real-world model that pays a little tribute to my late grandfather, and I had fun throwing it together over two evenings.

I'm really enjoying these little armor models and think I will be doing more, so any hints or tips are eagerly encouraged!

Looks Fabulous Darling....errr I mean nice job

I bought a 1/72 Merkava and I'm looking to pick up a Canadian Grizzly to turn into Space Marine vehicles. If they turn out half as nice as your grant I will be very pleased.

Beautiful job Nick, she looks like it could engage the Afrika Korps right off the bat!

My grandad was a tank commander in the 8th army. The Academy M3 Honey actuall represents my Grandads regiment,Kings Royal Irish (8th) Hussars,  and that tank was the type he was in when he was in North Africa. So that is on the build list for post Telford as my way of honouring him.

Looks good Nick - especially on the base

love it - never built any armour myself, ever, but am mad keen to do so (especially the 1/72 ones as they are pretty easy on the pocket).

my grandfather and his uncle were in north africa also, so lke lancer, i would love to build something to commemorate this.

great work!
