Did you know the South Africans had a dozen Nimrod's on order just before sanctions kicked in?  Thorvic found a refernce to the order in a 1968 issue of Air Pictorial. so with my build Q smaller than his....this nimrod (built by Thor and awaiting a new lease of life) was handed to me for the repaint into the scheme you see in the photos. Shes in the markings of 35sqn SAAF (their Shackelton unit).
She will hopefully be on the SAAF sig stand at Telford along with the Victor I did a few months back....right Phil?

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Cool! I like the look of those open bomb bay doors (they're huge! what sort of loadout would lurk in that space?)

This is the curse of speed;  I have been a slave to it all my life. On my gravestone they will carve 'It never got fast enough for me'.

Not sure SAAF would have US harpoons, however the Anglo/French Martel might be appropriate for SAAF.

Nice scheme Martin.

Perhaps to be replaced with Exocets or Sea Eagles?  Be interesting to see a diorama of one operating in conjunction with SA Sea Harriers.

If you love, love without reservation; If you fight, fight without fear - THAT is the way of the warrior

If you go into battle knowing you will die, then you will live. If you go into battle hoping to live, then you will die
