I cannot claim credit for this, though I wish I could.  Really nice work IMHO.

I have a bigger version, but it's over 300k, so if anyone wants it, drop me a pm or e-mail.

Ya know... war sucks. I kinda wish that she didn't get sunk. On the pretty scale, as far as massive warships goes, Yamato was right up there.

Gary,

I agree.

Perhaps instead of the "Big Y" going down in deep water as the US Navy showered a seemingly infinite amount of bombs and torpedos upon her she did, instead, manage to beach upon a handy nearby island.

Then, seeing as how the ship was neither going anywhere nor was any further threat, the USN left her be to die in place.

Later, after the way, she was then salvaged and taken as a war prize.  After some suitable modifications, she continued to serve in the USN as the biggest gunship of our Navy.  The 18" main battery would've acquited itself well during that Korean dustup...

It's a damm shame she had to be sunk. I think the Yamato was one of the most beautiful looking Battleships of the Battleship era. She had very purposeful, but very graceful lines to her. She'd still be the pride of the Japanese navy if she were still in service today.  Thbanks for posting this pic
If you love, love without reservation; If you fight, fight without fear - THAT is the way of the warrior

If you go into battle knowing you will die, then you will live. If you go into battle hoping to live, then you will die
