FACT: Did you know that when the RAF was looking for a heavy lift aircraft to fill the gap until the A400M arrives, Airbus offered to lease 2 or 4 A300-600 Beluga's to the RAF, eventualy they chosen for the C-17A "Globies" instead.

That six-engined one reminds me of some of the very earliest B-52 proposals, at least the wing and engines do.

Interesting tidbit: One of Conroy's early ideas was to purchase the Saro Princess flying boats that were sitting around doing nothing.

From Aviation Week February 3, 1964: Aero Spacelines, Inc., has obtained options to purchase two English-built Saunders-Roe Princess Flying boats from the still-unidentified European company which recently bought the three existing Princesses from the British govenment. Aero Spacelines plans to submit an unsolicited proposal to NASA to convert the flying boats into turbofan, land-based aircraft to haul Saturn rocket stages.
