Well the first Sprue test shots are now on-line at Airfix.com

look good from what we can see, but the black plastic used in some of the sprues means making out detail a little harder in the photos.

Surprisingly few parts there - but then again the upper fuselage and nose are missing  :dum:  :dum:

If the upper fuselage is missing, are Airfix releasing the Cabriolet version first?

It all looks fine to me....:)

There are 49 parts there without the upper fuselage, most of the undercarriage legs and all the cockpit and front fusleage parts. The lower fusleage we see there terminates just forward of the intakes meaning it looks like a sensible horizontal split on the rear parts with a vertical split on the forward.

If those parts don't make at least another 2 to 3 sprues I would be suprised. The total parts count being bandied around was around the 95 to 100 mark which seems about right with what is there.

Interestingly the intake camera blisters are molded on the clear sprue so that they can be masked and painted to leave clear windows.

The two disk shapes below the inlet bullets are the right size to be either exhaust blanks or representations of the exhaust nozzles.

The main undercarriage doors have the two rectangular vent holes in them, perhaps indicating that the pretty comprehensive bay detail seen on the 1/48 master has made its way into the 1/72.

And Hoorah! They have got the hot air vent arrangement on the engine doors right...;)
