QuoteDamn you Jon! Now that I've carefully gas-axed the fuse and glued it together you just HAD to come up with a great idea like that! Well, my Snap Tite F22 can say goodbye to its cans and the fins will be moved....got some spare weapons I could use by any chance?
Well, I've got some bombs and stuff that could sure be modded to resemble Genie's or Phoenixes. Give me a few minutes to do some dimensionalizationing and get back to you. You said 1/72, right?

Well, Zac, I dug through my 1/48 weapons and found some bombs that might work for conversion. I got a set of 2 big(dunno size) that are almost dead on for a 1/72 Genie. I found some smaller ones that I know I have 6 of but can only find 4. Those are the right diameter for a Phoenix, but they're about half as long. So, if I find that other set, I could get you 2-3 Phoenixes and 2 Genies. And if its cool with you, I'd like to mod the Genies myself, just because It seems like a fun, quick little project. You're on your own for the Phoenix mods, though. :P

I'm thinking something like a point defense interceptor for the cold war.  Ya know, Canada got mad at the US and decided that they didn't mind if the Soviets flew over their territory as long as they were headed in a southerly direction.  No longer being able to fly over Canadian airspace, the US had to do all intercepts over the continental US.  Oh yeah, we lost Alaska somewhere along the road too.  :D

QuoteUnlimited air racer :D
Now there's an idea! B) Put a number on the wing so that satellites can track the race, since they will be traveling at high altitude/speeds. :)

Or the USA never bought Alaska and it's either still Russian or part of Canada?

Zac, looks pretty cool...you got me to thinking, what if you pull the nose in a little tighter...something like this.

Either way it has a cool feel to it. Now you got me wishing I had an SR-71 to play around with...i guess I should work on some current projects first though.

I have voted "something else". There is much thrill I guess in imagining something completely different, as a SST Mach3 buziness-jet, or a Mach2 (altitude-zero) winner at Reno race (Lord!) just requiring shelter for the public not to be burnt by the exhausts... And SR-42 could mean Speedy Race 42...
But these are dreams  , finish her your way, dear. :)
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Mocked up with the "Jon tail".

For the mo she'll be a near-space interceptor, but perhaps Jeff could build his as the Speedy Race variant seen at Reno '92? It's great how the Air Force got back into the racing scene :P.

How about a companion to planedrivers Martian craft?

Wow, that ultra-short and tight SR-71 seriously looks better to me than anything Lucasfilm has come up with in the entire past decade!!!

Great concept there, Jeff!!

Hey Baz, I own the original model and I'm STILL trying to figure out how he did that! I want one - does anyone make the Blackbird in 1:144 or smaller?
