White Decals

Hello,

I print my own decals on my colour laser printer. The problem is that I can't print white. It's only when you start making drawings that you see the amount of white used in markings. Also there's the problem of applying decals on to dark finished models.
So I started my own design. This will be printed by proper decal printers. Things that will be on my sheet are for now:

White backing roundels (3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 mm)
'TEST' lettering (3 - 5 - 8 - 10 mm)
Maple leaf's (10 - 16 mm)
(I'm thinking of midnight blue Hellcat's)
Belgian F-16 What-if (no sizes yet)
(The 72 first F-16's would be finished in the standard Vietnam camouflage colour scheme like the first artist renderings of the 70's. They would be based at the following airbases: Koksijde 'KC' - Kleine Brogel 'KB' - Beauvechain 'BB' - Florennes 'FL' - Bierset 'BI'. Stories have yet to be made up, but I've started with acquiring more F-16 kits)

Things to follow:
Belgian Hurricanes
Belgian Boulton Paul Defiants
(I have several models in the painting stage now, both silver and camouflaged. I need to find the time to take pictures and put them on my web site)

I have updated my web site with a picture of the current state of my design:

The idea is to have this sheet printed in 25 sheets. That will leave some (up to 24 sheets) for spare.

Where will you print those decal sheets?

Hello,

(If they are printed) they will be printed by the people at the Fantasy Printshop:

http://www.fantasyprintshop.co.uk/

If have on a few occasion's talked to these guy's and have received info and tips for making up designs. The prices are reasonable (but I have only the price for 2004 at the moment because I didn't go to Telford last year where normally they  have a stand there).

For the first sheet I want to make a simple design and therefore I will do one with only one colour (white). But this means that there's automatically a second colour to be printed (clear varnish). For ease of drawing (and printing (lining up the different layers)) I'm thinking of using a solid layer of varnish over the complete sheet. (But will it be easy to cut the white roundels?)

Ah, thanks for the pointer. I'm looking into making some decals myself, and a service like this one would be ideal.

When I need white in my home-printed decal designs, I simply use white background decal paper instead of clear paper as the background.

I'm still screwing around with making home printed decals...but, with a bit of practice, they are getting better...and yeah, white decal paper rules!
