Thanks, I will try to see if I can build a profile from your view, correcting the angle as I can... Maybe you would correct if I have been wrong.

Concerning the Keiun with similar silhouette, this Japanese plane used tendem engines if I remember well, and it is true the very same could heve been done on the FTB, there was room enough, and that would have justifyed completely the counter-props... 2 Merlins on a single Mustang, great power indeed...
The R2Y2 did indeed use twinned Japanese derivatives of the Daimler Benz series of engines but several problems with the installation, disregarding the fact that the Japanese derivative engines had problems of their own.  But rather than a twin-Merlin, how about a W3420 where the twinning problems were already sorted out?

This is a truly great project.   That is a very nice model. :o

Was there not an airframe developed very similar to that (late ww2) by an outfit called "Fisher"   Got an idea in this old head that I saw one in an old Ian Allen book.??

I've a Unicraft FTB conversion in the stash, but those contra-props sure make it look better - trmendous stuff

That Mustang FTB looks pretty cool!  Always did like contra-rotating props on planes.

Good job!  Now, finish it!

Dork: are you serious not knowing the General Motors Fisher P-75 Eagle? Google may find thousand of pictures, and our dear friend Glenn built one, you may find it with the search tool of this forum.

Wolfik: thanks a million! I will correct my drawing with this very perfect source. (Edit: done at http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...00&#entry114978 )

About the P-75, I have found again Glenn's topics (from final to the first step):

Though, this was the first XP-75 model, without bubble canopy nor square fin, maybe the weirdest  :D but not the closest to the Mustang FTB...  :(
The final bubble P-75A seems available as a commercial kit :) , see http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=FER72018
(or future http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=VAL72010 ). Though they are 1/72, not for the same shelf :(  as Wolfik's so nice 1/48 FTB... ;)
