It dawned on me the other day that if I were a country as rich as Saudi Arabia, I'd wanna know what my nearest enemy had, so...

In 1955 Saudi officials started to get extremely worried about what they might face if they ever had to go to war with Israel. One of the aircraft that they would face, the dassault Mystere IV.
So in a not so clandestine manner, the Saudi Princes arranged a trip to France and flew a couple about. They proved to be quite fun and as if they were purchasing a few packs of smokes, bought 3 to evaulate against their inventory.

The Dassault aircraft proved to be quite good at their roles, however there were a few British mounts yet to try. The French jets would fly for about 5 years in mock dogfights against other jets purchased by the Saudi Princes. Eventually, a mature look at the subject would lead the Saudi government to purchase BAe Lightenings.

This is the Matchbox Mystere and my dabbling with various silver finishes. Just some diddling about with different paints and techniques.

WOOHOOOOO!! The Mystere is one of those aircraft few ever think about, and there aren't many experts on the Saudi Air Force hanging around, you could fool one hell of a lot of people with that.

And ain't that a hoot?!

Are those Strikemaster markings I spy?  ^_^

Great stuff! I love the finish....especially how the rear/engine section is darker, nice touch! I pictured desert camo but this is much better!

Gary

Yep, Strikemaster indeed. I'm sure the serials are a cockup, but...
And I tried for a good photo of the back. I was going for that heat stained look. Camera ran out of batteries. Poop.

I've a couple of the Revell re-boxings - one's been done as Bolivian might do the other as Sudanese or something

Nice kit by the way
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Certainly looks like a nice kit. That Saudi version is brilliant by the way.
