COMRADES!!!

Is GLORIOUS day in GREAT Soviet Union.  But I, personally, am conflicted.

Presented below is the Mig-39, NATO codename "Fubar."  It is the epitome of our GLORIOUS and tireless aviation OKB's!  Its simple presense in the battlespace above the ground is enough to cause the easily frightened Western air forces to flee.  And it does so proudly, serving the People!

Except for this one.

It belongs to the now decadent Ukrianian Air Force!!  How they could embrace the corrupt values of the West is beyond me!  They have taken our most powerful airplane, and allowed the cowardly West to inspect them!  Surely, comrades, this cannot stand!

But what are we to do about it, you ask?  Invasion?  Nyet, for they would call upon their lazy Western allies and shipments of GLORIOUS tequilla to Rodina would stop.  Deny them vodka?  Nyet, for they make their own.  No, comrades, the key to making them realize the error in their ways is to challenge them to a hockey game, played with all teams from across Mother Russia, against theirs.  Our numbers would swell as Nationalist pride takes over the People in this mission!  By the end of the second period, the Ukrainians would be pleading with us to save them from themselves!

What?  WHAT?!  Again with the looks, comrades.  Fine, no tequilla and tacos for one week!  Back to work!!

Comrade Anatoly Iosef Pakizorich, Naval Aviation Bureau

(Here's a Revell boxing of the Zvezda 1/72 Mig 1.44.  It's a neat, big kit to build.  I've got two more that need building).

Full marks for Comrade Anatoly Iosef Pakizorich for his idea of beating the filthy west loving ukraine. (full marks for the kit as well, except, it was yet anotehr of our superior technology copyied by the filthy west (lol))

B777LR, the allie in the filthy west!

Comrade Anatoly, truely you have poured scorn and shame on the lazy Ukrainians for straying from the true path of socialism.  Your challange for hockey matches against them will surely bring them to thier knees. Lancerov, Colnel GRU.

That is one sweet looking MiG there, and she looks gorgeous in that 3 colour splinter scheme.

I've also got 3 in the stash to build as well.

*puts my 1.44 back in the box  *

 but anyways, awesome camo, and seeing one of those getting built sure makes the big kit less intimidating!

Fubar, eh? sure beats the current reporting name of "Flatback"

That's  "Flatpack", and its a bit of a British joke at the expense of the ASCC naming committee.

If you don't know...

Personally I can't stand the radar-less nosecone, I think it makes the whole thing look a bit rubbish. I'd go more like this:

Hey, its no reflection on the modeller, its a wicked camouflage scheme and nicely done. Its Mikoyan who are at fault for building a radar-less prototype, and Zvezda for not sticking an alternative nosecone in the kit :)

Man Anthony, one outta sight build after the other! I love the camo on that one! And the NATO code name made me shoot cola out my nose! Excellent work, Comrade Anatoly!

Thanks for the comments, guys!  This was a fun one to build.  The splinter camo wasn't too difficult to apply, just getting the colors set was a paint (I didn't want to do it like their Flankers, yet, I did...).  I also didn't know NATO actually assigned a name to this thing, especially seeing as how it's not going to enter service.

I agree with Overscan, at least in one regard.  I don't mind the nose, as I figure they'd find some way to fit a Mig-29 radar or something in there (the droppy nose makes the plane look like it's got allergies or something).  The current intake is something I like too, but the cranked arrow wing would definately make the plane a real knockout.  I'm just not sure how to do it, though.  And I've got another two models in the planning that I'm trying to figure out how to extend and make "cranked."

Having said that, seeing a model with the drippy nose, cranked wing, and that new intake would make me insanely jealous!

Comrade Anatoly would comment, but he is off, busy organizing lines for the Reeducation Hockey game against the Ukraine.  I think he's up to 1290 different offensive lines at the moment.  If there's one thing Russia knows how to do, it's overwhelming numbers
