I'm getting a couple of ideas !

Idea 1:
Sooooooo, if the RAF was forced to wait until the very late fifties for the Hunter, and it only came into service very slowly AND the Sabres were returned under the MAP program, then between 1955-1965 there would be a need for a medium range ground attack aircraft.....

the Republic Thunderstreak FG1.

Dark Green/Dark Sea Grey with either painted Aluminium or PRU Blue undersides. Some really bright Squadron markings from a Sabre sheet.

Idea 2:
A wee bit more 'off the wall'
What if West Germany had 'turned right' in the late fifties/early sixties and the Nazis had risen again - albeit briefly. How's about the F-84 (or F-86) in mid war 74/75/76 with JG54 Grunherz markings.... Now that would turn heads.... wouldn't it   ??

So, there's my two initial ideas. As usual I'm open to more - I'd prefer not to go the NMF route, as I've got a 'real world' Sabre, Thunderbolt and Mustang queueing-up for their turn at 'Alclad Central' and that stuff ain't cheap !

Ok guys, come-on inpsire me some more

Tall order there. As western European skies were literaly crawling with F-84s for a good chunk of the 50s there isn't a whole lot left to the imagination with F-84s in that geographic region.

For the past While I've been entertaining the idea that Czechoslovakia and Poland never went Socialist, I think the F-84 would look great in either contry's markings and a nice two tone green or green and brown tactical camo over light grey or grey-blue.

How about Sweden? Say the SAAB Lansen didn't work out for some reason and the Swedes needed to bridge the gap between the Tunnan and the Draken. I can see a SAAB license built F-84 with a few extras to maybe shorten up its take offs and landings so they could launch them from highways as the Swedes like to do. I'd put that one in the Lansen style finish of dark semi gloss green over light grey.

Then of couse you could stick it in Finnish service, I think it would look great in the two green over grey-blue camo that the Finns put on their MiG-21s in later years.

If you want to keep it in RAF colours, give it to Training command and do it up as a target tug. Grey green tactical over yellow and black striped undersides.

IHG   What have you been told about thinking!!!!!  Ideas are not for the likes of you.
Now sit down and take your medication and lets have no more talk of thinking.......especially if it involves the scrounging of my F84's

Hows about a "captured" Soviet one with lots of red stars and such.

You mean like the ones that doubled as Migs in the film "The Hunters"?

:D

Israeli ones (as opposed to French F-84s masquerading as IAF aircraft...)? Might look quite good in the IDF camo scheme.

An RAF RF-84F (as an alternative to the Swift FR5) is on my 'to do' list....

How about an F-84F in 56 Squadron markings?

If you can brave the NMF option again - Silver, red/white checks ( relatively subdued, not OTT like the Lightning F3s...)  and a firebird badge on the tail. Brought into service when the Swift proved to be a failure, and the RAF decided to go for a swept-wing aircraft rather than force the squadron back onto the Meteor, perhaps?  If not NMF, then camouflaged, and used in RAFG (several squadrons to choose from)...

Radish

Or 41 Sqn RAF in a white winter camo for exercises in Norway? ^_^

I'm thinking of one for the Crusader aircraft thread too

I plan on doing one as a delta-wing but you're welcome to beat me to it, if you'd like...   ^_^
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Why not a Japanese one?
Green over grey, all tatty?

US ANG in the wraparound Lizard scheme.

I did a Sioux indian one....sand with yellow spots/warpaint. Upstairs in the loft.
