Mr Miller that SPAD fuse with modern monoplane wings and radial engine is absolutely truly inspired! It looks like something a small country (like Romania perhaps) would order in large numbers on the eve of war.

Your kitbashing never ceases to amaze me Eddie! Bravo Zulu!

Alright, here's a slow progression forward with the P-40.

and some better pix of the new one. This one intrigues me. :)

Wow Eddie exciting stuff! I am still contemplating spats in 1/48 scale. My suggestion would be to make a profile template and then cut the four spat sides out of plastic. Find the thinnest wheels you can get away with and then glue the spat sides to the wheels. Then you fill in the gap along the top with putty. If you're really adventurous, you can heat a little sprue and bend it to shape and insert it in gap.

I really like your "monoplane SPAD" project. Have you decided on the camo and markings? Will it have an open or enclosed cockpit? Those gaps near the nose look ripe to be fitted with some guns.

I guess I am intrigued as well. :)

Do it, Mr M, do it...... and paint it in 1950/60's era custom car colours..... Y'know George Barris/Ed Roth style. I got some 'Moon Eyes' somewhere if you want them !

Well Ian,
You have changed the direction of this build and for the better! B) I'll do it up in some bright colors. Since it will have a more modern paint scheme, then it stands to reason it would look more modern. So, to facilitate this new direction, I've reversed a Mustang canopy and made a frame for it to sit on. With the Mustang prop, I'm almost tempted to ditch the bi wings and make it a racer....

Ah jeez, why must you force these hard decisions on yourself (and us) Eddie? Why can't you just build BOTH?

I for one would kill to see the bipe, but then again a racer P-40 along the lines of Precious Metal, Dago Red, Miss Ashley II (RIP) etc etc would be totally awesome!

My vote?

Can I vote twice?

All I'll say is that no matter what, she'll be one for the books! Go Eddie Go!

Due to forseeable circumstances, I'll be taking a leave of absence for a while. I'll be available by e-mail.

Wow.

[looks again]

Wow (again).

Are you entering this in the "I Love P-40's" Group Build, Eddie?
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Rafael

WOW!!!

I can't resist the urge to admire old birds converted to turbo-prop.

Specially well-thought concepts as yours, Eddie!!!

The propeller detail is superb, and the canopy shape is very attractive

Excellent
