The ugly later ones were A to P if I remember correctly. :-\

Why are they ugly? They're the same shape, just with some paint added.

They were larger.
The IV 01 was a proof of concept prototype.  They then made them larger to produce the IV A onwards.
Tope is right, the 01 is better looking than the production versions.  I didn't realise there was a difference and was putting it all down to camera angles.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Thanks!
I will try to find (or draw) a profile comparison between IV 01 and IV A, then applyi the same on V to meet the subject of this topic.

After hours of Search, I have found the profile of the Mirage IV 01, oh so beautiful, so much better than IV A. I am going to draw this in a way that is easy to compare, mentioning sources, and you will see like me. Yes, the A is ugly compared to the 01... (according to me and maybe others). ;)

I'm with Kit the production plane doesn't look so ugly compared to the prototype ( source wikipedia ).

But my favorite will always be the 4000.

Tophe

Ahem, I understand the taste of different human individuals is different, all right.
I try to make one step in your direction, zero-sen, with a IV like 4000: <_<

Uh, the Mirage IV topic was not absent but was at https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=4831.0
so I run back to the Mirage III/5 subject.

The goal of finding why the IV 01 is much more pleasant (for me) than the IV A was to find an aesthetic recipe that may be applied to my Mirage 5, and here is it: <_<

Midway between Mirage III and IV, there is the IAI Arye project, see https://againstallodds.fandom.com/wiki/IAI_Arye?file=Img648.jpg
or at SecretProjects.co.uk
This seems to be a Kfir C2 (like a small Mirage III) but with twin engines (like a big Mirage IV) and twin fins. <_<

I like the look of that too, like a mini Mirage IV with twin fins.

There was (somewhere, Inmymindland maybe) a hypersonic 3-jet Mirage: <_<
